Jonathan Pool BSc (Hons) – Head of School
Jonathan has been immersed in a homeopathic education environment for many years as the College was founded by his mother, Nicky Pool. He studied psychology at University School London and received business administration training within a large insurance company in London. Jonathan was a partner in a small importing business before joining Purton House in 1994 and succeeded Nicky Pool as Head of School in 2005.
James Fitzgerald M.Sc, M.C.H, R.S.Hom. – Academic Director

James trained at The College of Homeopathy in London graduating in 1992. He became a member of The College of Homeopathy and an R.S.Hom. in 1994 and graduated from Dynamis School for Advanced Homeopathic Studies in 1995. He also graduated from Westminster University in 1998 with an M.Sc. in Complementary Therapy Studies. Before joining Purton House in 2000, James was a teacher and supervisor at the College of Homeopathy in London for 9 years. James runs his Practice on Thames Valley University Campus.
Nicky Pool R.S.Hom., S.R.N., A.T.Psych.
Practitioner Development teacher
Nicky graduated from The College of Homeopathy in 1984 and has been practising ever since. Nicky became an R.S.Hom. and founded Purton House School of Homeopathy in 1985. Originally trained as an SRN and psychiatric nurse Nicky is now also a psychotherapist receiving her diploma in Transpersonal Psychology in 1992 and accreditation with the UKCP in 1995.
Elaine Walker B.Ed. (Hons). R.S.Hom.
Co-Leader ACE & MS, ACE & P, ACS and Materia Medica Modules
Elaine trained as a teacher receiving her B.Ed. (Hons) in 1979. After teaching for four years she had a child and then qualified as a homeopath in 1988. In 1994 she completed her postgraduate training and became an R.S.Hom. in 1994. Since then she has taught in various homeopathic schools joining Purton House in 1995 as well as running a busy practice in Kent.
Ruth Derham DipPHSH, RSHom
Co-Leader ACE & MS; ACE & P Modules
Ruth graduated from Purton House School of Homeopathy in 2001 and was registered with the Society of Homeopaths in 2003. Since graduating, Ruth has established a busy practice working both from home and from a GP's surgery in Wiltshire. Ruth taught various Homeopathy first aid courses at Swindon School and began teaching medical science at Purton House in 2002.
Marilene Metzler Dip PHSH, R.S.Hom - Course Administrator
Co-Leader Mat Medica Module
Marilene graduated from Purton House School of Homeopathy in 1997 and became an R.S.Hom in 2001. Since May 2000 she has fulfilled a variety of administrative functions at the School, including assessment systems, tutorials, and supervision. Marilene also works as a homeopath from her private practice in Surrey.
Rowena Ronson R.S.Hom, CertEd
Practitioner Development Module Leader, Co-Leader PPD Module
Rowena qualified as a teacher, receiving her Certificate in Education from University of Westminster in 1997. She gained considerable teaching experience at F.E. schools and now also works for the Open University. Rowena graduated from London School of Classical Homeopathy in 2001 and went on to register with the Society of Homeopaths in 2003. Additionally she also runs a busy practice from a number of clinics. Rowena joined the lecturing team at Purton House in 2005.
Philip Bold B.A. (Lon). PGCE, DipPHSH.
Lecturer and PHSH Clinic practitioner
Philip received his B.A. (Lon.) in 1974 and obtained a P.G.C.E. from the University of Bristol in 1976 and taught up to university entrance level in secondary schools and adult in education. Philip received his diploma from Purton House in 2000 and runs his practice in Middlesex
Our Aims are
- To provide a first class professional education in the science and art of classical homeopathy based on Hahnemannian principles with an awareness of a range of methodologies of homeopathic practice, taught by experienced and practising homeopaths.
- To ensure ongoing encouragement and support for the individual student with a continuous assessment of their progress throughout their course.
- To ease students into practice through gradually increasing their involvement with, and responsibility for, patients.
- To involve the student in their personal growth as a practitioner of the healing arts through the teaching and practical application of Practitioner Development.
To develop skills for life long learning and to facilitate graduates taking their place in the professional homeopathy and complementary medicine arena
